Aoife has worked for over 30 years in a variety of leadership roles in social care in Ireland and Australia, in both the voluntary sector and in government agencies.
What drives Aoife is a strong belief that we all have the capacity to live a good life: to be loved, to have access to education, a job, a home of our own, good health and a feeling of belonging and acceptance. Aoife’s work focuses on challenging the assumptions, practices and systems that limit the potential of people with a disability to have access to the good things in life. She achieves this by working alongside people with a disability and their families to support their voice and natural authority when engaging with service systems and to advocate for change.
Aoife has worked with services and staff teams to share her deep understanding of the theory and values that underpin effective disability supports and how to translate these into practice. This is done through the provision of training based on a clear framework of practice, undertaking service reviews, leadership development and consulting on matters relating to the quality of support arrangements and effectiveness of service systems.
